Here We Come A-Caroling
Monmouth Civic Chorus (MCC) is well-known for its classical concerts in locations such as Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Long Branch and the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. But the choir also enjoys participating in more intimate community engagements. Every holiday season, for example, MCC performs at Christmas caroling events throughout Monmouth County.
Sickles Market in Little Silver has also hosted MCC for many holiday events. MCC carolers have had the honor of escorting Santa, leading the tree lighting, and singing amid the festive evergreens.
This December, MCC sang at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

“The plan was for us to sing for the tree-lighting employee event, and that was good. But then we were invited to go up on patients’ floors…Both staff and patients went out of their way to let us know how happy they were to have us there,” said MCC Alto Lori Beck.
This was the first time MCC had the opportunity to spread cheer to people dealing with illness during the holidays.
“It really put me in the spirit of the season. I feel that we brought some joy to the staff, patients, and family members…and friends of the patients!” said MCC Soprano Donna Boris.
