AREA MUSICIANS PERFORM WITH MONMOUTH CIVIC CHORUS

August 15, 2007

FOR RELEASE OCTOBER 2007

Well-known local musicians will join the Monmouth Civic Chorus in LisztFest, celebrating the life and music of the Romantic genius Franz Liszt. Guest artists are Karin Gargone, Organist, Presbyterian Church on the Hill, Ocean Township; Charles Harris, Director of Music, First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank; and Vladislav Kovalsky, Executive Director, Monmouth Conservatory of Music, along with Mark Cook, MCC Accompanist.

Choral selections include Liszt’s dramatic Psalm 13 and excerpts from his radiant Missa Choralis. Dramatic readings, virtuoso organ works and the devilishly exciting Mephisto Waltz on the piano will reveal “the fascinating duality of Liszt,” remarked Dr. Mark Shapiro, Artistic Director and Conductor. “On the one hand he was a publicity hound, ladies’ man, and virtuoso showman. On the other hand he was deeply spiritual. He brought great energy to both aspects.”

The concert is on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 255 Harding Road (Tower Hill), Red Bank, New Jersey. Tickets are $25 general admission, $22 seniors, $20 groups of 10 or more, $5 students. Call (732) 933-9333, or order online at www.monmouthcivicchorus.org.
