Direct from the United States, the award-winning Monmouth Civic Chorus is touring the Republic of Ireland. Concerts will be presented free of charge in Killarney, Cobh, Kilkenny and Dublin July 6-10. The group’s repertoire includes folk songs, spirituals, contemporary works by Stephen Paulus and Eric Whitacre, classical pieces by Mozart, Parry and Stanford, and arrangements of old favorites by Artistic Director Dr. Ryan Brandau.

Ryan James Brandau holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the Yale School of Music, an MPhil in historical musicology from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), and a BA in Music from Princeton University. In California, he was the Artistic Director of the Santa Clara Chorale, and the Director of Choral Activities and faculty member at Santa Clara University. Dr. Brandau is the Artistic Director of Princeton Pro Musica and Amor Artis, and works with the Symphonic Choir at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.

The Monmouth Civic Chorus has been called “close to perfect” (Asbury Park Press), “alive and evocative” (The Star-Ledger) and “exceptional” (Red Bank Green). The Chorus is the proud recipient of the 2008 ASCAP/Chorus America Alice Parker Award, and the 2010 Spinnaker Award for Arts and Culture from the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce. Past tours included performances at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican in Rome, the Duomo in Florence, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna with members of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. Founded in 1949, the Monmouth Civic Chorus is a volunteer community of singers based in Red Bank, Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA, located on the Atlantic coast between New York City and Philadelphia.
